YEAR OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE INITIAL BUILDING WAS THE YEAR OF COLLAPSE
1994
Therefore, when participating in the competition for the reconstruction of the building, we decided to embody the values of the bank – not hiding our own modern ambitions, but conducting a sort of excavation and polishing of the building and the surrounding structures. The goal was for all of them, together with the courtyard uniting them, to shine with the original ideas of the creators. We succeeded, won the competition, and completed 90% of the reconstruction. Unfortunately, the installation of the final piece of the composition – a cubic terrace for relaxation that completes the design – coincided with the time of the bank's closure due to force majeure.

Nevertheless, we see this project as a subtle and precise statement about a bright and intelligent era, and we are proud of it.
During the planning of the reconstruction (2017), BGPB began positioning itself as a modern, intelligent bank that fully supports the modernization of the economy, life, and business, while also showing maximum attention to cultural and material heritage
The office building for small business services of the BGPB bank was constructed between 1994 and 1996, at a time when most architectural projects were either not realized or distorted beyond recognition
CHALLENGE

IN THE EARLY, GRIM 90S, SOME DECENT ARCHITECT DESIGNED A STEPPED FACADE WITH TERRACES, BUT DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS, IT WAS DECIDED NOT TO WASTE SQUARE METERS – BRICK WALLS WITH WINDOWS WERE ADDED, WHICH WERE THEN COVERED WITH "GOLD."

WHAT IF WE START BY CLEARING THE ORIGINAL IDEA FROM THE GOLDEN FLAIR OF THE '90S?

WHAT DO WE ALREADY HAVE? A BUILDING FROM THE 1990s, LAMELLAE ON A NEARBY MULTI-STOREY PARKING LOT, AND BEAUTIFUL MATURE TREES - GIANTS. THIS IS THE MATERIAL WE WILL BE WORKING WITH. WE WILL BECOME THE BACKGROUND, AND THE TREES WILL BE THE VISUAL DOMINANT
THE OFFICE SECTION OF THE BGPB BUILDING IS INTENDED FOR WORKING WITH SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESSES. THESE ARE REGULAR CLIENTS, AND THERE'S NO NEED TO ATTRACT THEM WITH AN OVERLY BRIGHT FACADE; THEY WILL BE GREETED AND ESCORTED RIGHT FROM THE PARKING LOT. THE ONLY ISSUE IS THAT THE PARKING LOT, AND ACTUALLY THE MAIN FACADE, ARE LOCATED IN A VERY DREARY AREA. OUR TASK IS TO TAKE THE NOTES THAT ALREADY SOUND IN IT AND MAKE THEM RESONATE IN A SYMPHONY

TO MAKE THEM BOTH VERY SIMPLE IN FORM AND AT THE SAME TIME WIDE ENOUGH TO FIT INTO THE FRAME OF THE GLAZING WILL BE DIFFICULT, BUT OUR TASK IS TO MAINTAIN THE PROPORTIONS. THAT'S WHY THE ARCHITECT WILL BE WORKING AT THE SAME COMPUTER WITH THE CONSTRUCTOR ON THE ENTIRE STAINED GLASS SYSTEM

THE TASK OF OUR BUILDING IS TO BE UNOBTRUSIVE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SURROUNDING DEVELOPMENT, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME PLASTICALLY LINKING IT, INTRODUCING INTO ITS ANTI-FORM ELEMENTS OF SCULPTURAL PLASTICITY AND NOBLE LINES

WE DON'T NEED TO CREATE A MASTERPIECE IN THE MIDDLE OF A DUMP. WE NEED TO CREATE SUCH A CONTEXTUAL CONNECTION THAT WILL MAKE THE DUMP TURN INTO A SPACE

THE CONTRAST BETWEEN THE SCULPTURAL FACADE AND THE "INTERIOR" BUILDING FACADE CREATES SHADING FOR THE SOUTH-FACING WINDOWS WHEN THE SUN IS HIGH, REDUCING THE LOAD ON AIR CONDITIONERS WITHOUT REQUIRING THE WINDOWS TO BE DARKENED OR OTHERWISE BLOCKING THE OUTSIDE VIEW FOR THE EMPLOYEES
WORKING WITH STRICT TECHNOLOGICAL VOLUMES, WE DIDN'T FORGET OUR FAVORITE TECHNIQUE - GEOPLASTICS OF ARTIFICIAL HILLS. THE "DROP" OF THE BUILDING SEEMS TO FLOW FROM SUCH A HILL

THE FOURTH "LEGO BLOCK" WAS SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT A SUMMER TERRACE FOR THE STAFF AND EMPHASIZE THE STEP-BY-STEP LIGHTENING OF THE BUILDING'S "STEPS." UNFORTUNATELY, THE BANK CLOSED BEFORE IT COULD BE INSTALLED

THE SQUARE CUT OF THE WINDOWS REMINDS US THAT THE ENTIRE INTERNAL BUILDING IS AS IF COMPOSED OF INDIVIDUAL CUBES. WE HARDLY CONSCIOUSLY NOTICE THIS EFFECT, BUT IT GIVES THE BUILDING SOLID AND STABLE PROPORTIONS

AS ONE APPROACHES THE BUILDING, THE LIGHT CORNER CUBE DRAWS ATTENTION AGAINST THE DARK MASS, GENTLY REMINDING THE EMPLOYEE OF THE LOCATION OF THE ENTRANCE. WE OFTEN WORK WITH INTUITIVE NAVIGATION
